A pedestrian is dead after a collision that saw one person ejected from a vehicle, near Jane Street and Wilson Avenue, Friday afternoon.
One of the victims was without vital signs, and a man in his 60s is in serious condition, paramedics confirmed to CBC Toronto. Both were taken to hospital, said paramedics.
A pedestrian crossing Jane Street was struck by a Honda Odyssey, Const. Clint Stibbe, of Traffic Services said.
Police were notified of a serious collision at Jane Street and Beverly Hills Drive at 3:13 p.m.
The minivan flipped over and landed on the northwest corner of the intersection, according to police.
"The motorist was driving northbound on Jane, and made an abrupt turn, striking the pedestrian, then collided up by this church," Sgt. Paul Lentsch told CBC Toronto at the scene.
Initially, police reported the collision involved two vehicles, with one crashing into a bus shelter.
Police tweeted the roads in the area would be closed for "an extensive period".
Jane Street was closed between Beverly Hills Drive and Wilson Avenue until shortly after 7 p.m.
The TTC 35 Jane and 195 Jane Rocket buses were diverting because of the collision but have since resumed regular routing.
The Toronto police traffic unit investigated the scene and ruled it a fatality.
The victim is the 19th traffic fatality of this year.
Police are appealing for witnesses to contact investigators at 416-808-1900.
