Seeman, other film personalities released

The police, who had detained film director and Naam Tamilar Katchi leader Seeman for participating in the airport siege on Thursday morning, decided to release him in the night. Soon after his detention, Mr. Seeman and his followers were kept in a marriage hall in Pallavaram.

Earlier, there were reports that Mr. Seeman could be arrested for the violence unleashed against police personnel during the protest against the IPL match on Tuesday.

Tension among cadre

This triggered tension among party cadres who gathered in large numbers in front of the marriage hall.

Directors Bharathiraja, Ameer and Gowthaman, who were also detained along with Mr. Seeman, refused to leave the marriage hall until the latter was also released.

After several rounds of negotiations, the police agreed to release Mr. Seeman at around 9 p.m.
