Affirmed Networks, the leader in virtualized mobile networks, and VMware, announced that Globetouch, a leader in global connectivity services for connected car and IoT applications, has deployed the Affirmed Mobile Content Cloud and VMware vCloud NFV platform for its mobile core network.
Together, Affirmed Networks and VMware provide an open, flexible virtualized network that allows Globetouch to efficiently deliver connected car IoT services.
Globetouch has deployed Affirmed Networks’ virtualized network, running on VMware NFV infrastructure, to deliver a new breed of innovative services that change the way enterprises conduct their businesses.
By utilizing unique capabilities such as network slicing over a smart infrastructure, Globetouch can deliver truly customized services to enterprise customers. Globetouch also leverages the tremendous flexibility and ease of deployment of the integrated solution to augment capacity for Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) outside of their native markets, utilizing Globetouch’s state-of-the-art IoT management platform.
To showcase the flexibility of the company’s virtualized network running on Affirmed and VMware, Globetouch is demonstrating the delivery of real-time video surveillance taken from drones in San Francisco and delivered to the show floor at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.
The demonstration features capabilities such as object-recognition and geo-fencing that are currently used by Nightingale Securities, one of Globetouch’s enterprise customers.
“Software-based networks have dramatically enhanced the way in which innovative operators such as Globetouch develop and deliver new services,” said Hassan Ahmed, Affirmed Networks' chairman & CEO. “This week’s demonstration just scratches the surface of how new applications for connected services deliver real business value, and Globetouch’s innovative approach is leading by example.”
“Customers are adopting VMware and Affirmed solutions as the basis for their network modernization, 5G enablement and cloud transformation. The two companies have a long-standing partnership in helping companies such as Globetouch create and launch innovative services,” said Shekar Ayyar, executive vice president and general manager, Telco Group at VMware. “VMware, Affirmed, and Globetouch are demonstrating the software-defined future of networking, one that will enable new revenue streams and open new opportunities for the agile service provider.”
