Engineering graduates file cheating case against IT firm

Were offered jobs, told to submit surety and then to shift to Noida

Two engineering graduates have filed a cheating complaint against an IT firm for duping them of ₹3 lakh after promising jobs for them.

Arpitha Hegde and her sister Poojitha Hegde — both engineering graduates — were approached by a woman identified as Neha while they were looking for jobs. She claimed to be a recruiter from an IT company and offered them a job.

In their complaint to the police, the sisters said they were called for an interview where they met the company executives. After offering them positions as software developers, the executives demanded ₹3 lakh from them as surety. They fixed the salary at ₹18,000 per month with an assurance that it would be hiked to ₹30,000 per month.

The girls gave them the money, but a month later, the executives reached out to them and said that the company was shifting its base to Noida, near Delhi, and asked them to relocate there. The duo refused and also demanded the return of their money.

The company executives turned down their demand claiming that it was against their policy. After running around for four months, Arpitha filed a cheating complaint with the Whitefield police on Tuesday. She also alleged that the company had shut its business a few days ago and that the executives were no longer responding to their calls.

The police have taken up a cheating case against the company.
