A man accused of stabbing a 53-year-old man to death earlier this week received a $1.1 million bond this morning.
Robert Galvan, 37, of Brownsville, is charged with murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Galvan, whose hand was bandaged from an apparent wound and appeared before the judge this morning, told the judge that he understood the charges.
According to police, at around 1 a.m. Wednesday morning, Galvan got into an argument with the victim, who has yet to be identified, and another man on the 200 block of E. 10th Street.
Both men were stabbed, police have said.
After the altercation, the victim and the other man got into car driven by the surviving stabbing victim and drove away, ending up at the Wildrose Apartments.
Police quickly connected the two scenes, authorities have said.
During this morning's hearing, the state asked a $225,000 bond on both charges and said that Galvan was convicted for aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury in 2016 and was on probation for 10 years.
Galvan was mostly quiet during the hearing.
The Brownsville Police Department is expected to identify the victim later today.
