The Beaver County Sportsmen’s Conservation League is planning several events over the next few months to benefit youth who are interested in the outdoors.
The always popular Joe Craig Memorial Youth Fishing Derby at Hopewell Park will be held April 28 for kids ages 15 and younger. Registration for the derby begins at 6:30 a.m. and is free for the kids. Five hundred fifty trout will be stocked April 24 at which time the lake will be closed to fishing. Last year over 150 young anglers showed up to test their fishing skills. Trophies will be awarded in different categories for boys and girls, and over 50 prizes will be given out. Each young angler is limited to one rod. The concession stand will be open, and bait will be sold at the park. No minnows permitted to be used as bait. The derby is scheduled to run from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. For more information, call 724-683-5880.
The County League will hold a sporting clay shoot May 19 to benefit the Beaver County Sportsmen’s Youth Foundation.
