Share and care important for development, says Vice-President

He calls upon students to aim high and work hard to achieve goals

Share and care is the most important ingredient for the growth of an individual, the State and the country, said Vice-President M. Venkaiah Naidu.

Addressing the students at the Indian Institute of Petroleum and Energy, here on Thursday, he said, “An individual should take care of the other and the Centre should take care of the State and vice-versa and then only the country will progress as desired.” Mr. Venkaiah Naidu said that India has always been a fertile land with intelligent brains, but the brains have to utilised in the right direction.

Focussing on demographic dividend, he said, “About 65% of the population is below 35 years, and the brains have to be motivated and shown the direction. In such a scenario institutes of eminence such as IIPE play a dominant role”.

Talking of the role of youth in the growth rate, he said, along with growth comes challenges. “At present till 25% are below poverty line and 25 % are illiterate. Youth has a role in uplifting the downtrodden.”

Talking about IIPE, he said the institute that was set-up as per the promise made in Schedule 13 of the AP Reorganisation Act- 2014, has a huge role to play in the future.

Renewable energy

“We are among those countries that have the maximum number of sunny days, and we are not able to tap more than 1 % of solar energy at present. Research has to be taken up in this area, as Prime Minister Narendra Modi has a vision to generate at least 175GW of energy from sources such as solar and wind,” he said.

He urged the students to dream big and aim high and work hard to achieve the goals and advised them to take care of mother, Janmabhoomi (place of birth), and mother tongue.
