Kentucky Legislature overturns two major vetoes

good evening and thanks for joining us, i'm amber freeman. tom is off tonight. major developments... right now... in frankfort. kentucky's republican-led general assembly has rejected two big vetoes from 'republican' governor matt bevin. abc 36's kelsi thorud is at the capitol..... with the latest. just minutes ago the senate made it official... voting to override governor bevin's vetos of the budget and tax bill. now both those bills are officially law. vo: after hours of behind closed door meetings this morning, things really picked up this afternoon as lawmakers in the house and senate voted to override governor bevin's veto of both the tax and budget bills. in a turn of event today... democrats were the ones agreeing with bevin's veto, while republicans stood in opposition. sot sot kelsi tag: now the tax law will go into effect immediately given it had an emergency clause attached to it. the budget will go into effect at the end of this fiscal year. reporting in frankfort. kelsi thorud. abc 36 news. at times it was hard to hear inside the chambers because of the thousands
