Duane John Elsbury Sr., 81, of Cedar Rapids, died April 12, 2018, at Evergreen Estates in Cedar Rapids. Funeral Service: 10 a.m. Monday, April 16, 2018, at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories, with visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, April 15, 2018. Interment: Following services on April 16, 2018, at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Duane was born May 9, 1936, the son of John and Grace (Romig) Elsbury. Duane enjoyed fishing, hunting, and was an avid outdoorsman; he also was an amateur boxer and race car driver. Duane enjoyed spending time in his timber, but his greatest joy in life was his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and watching his grandson wrestle.
Survivors include his sons, Duane (Wendy) Elsbury, Virgil (Joyce) Elsbury and David (Diane Jennings) Elsbury; daughter, Teresa Elsbury; his sisters, Lucille Howe, Joyce Netolicky, Janette Weske and Burdette Elsbury; 12 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ruby; and his sister, Phyllis.
