He is a different player now: Gopi

India’s chief National badminton coach P. Gopi Chand said it was a “fantastic feeling” to see another player from his academy become the World No. 1.

“When we started the academy we never thought about these things. But, I am definitely pleased with the way the players have responded to the challenges over the years, thanks to the wonderful support staff and a scientific coaching system we have,” Gopi told The Hindu from Gold Coast.

About Srikanth, Gopi said: “he is a different player now and one of the best in the contemporary era. I believe he can win more titles as this is a big year for badminton itself,” he said.
