The 11th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) has arrived in Bengaluru. The first match in the city, between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Kings XI Punjab, is slated for Friday.
Party mood
Chinnaswamy Stadium is wearing bright colours. Spaces within the stadium have turned into lounges, with party-style decor. The latest edition is the Grand Terrace Stand, with PVR-like seats. Another space has been transformed into a mini-museum. It will have jerseys signed by cricketers and display IPL mementoes. A ticket for a seat here costs Rs 7,000.
Merchandise stalls
This is for those who wish to take home jerseys, bags, bats, and caps signed by cricketers.
Marginal increase
GST has not led to a big hike in ticket prices. Ticket prices range from Rs 800 to Rs 35,000 (P2lounge).
Virat Kohli was single last season. His wife Anushka Sharma now accompanies him everywhere. She will be in town to cheer her husband.
Christ Gayle in rival camp
Chris Gayle was with RCB for seven years and led the team for four. But this year, he initially went unsold and was eventually bought by Kings XI Punjab. It will be interesting to watch the West Indian clash with his close buddies in RCB.
Rahul back in action
Young star K L Rahul, who couldn't play last season because of an injury, is now with Kings XI Punjab. He looks fitter than ever before. He led Kings XI Punjab to victory in the last match and is a player to watch out for.
