KGF: 3 cops suspended on charges of extortion

· They were on election check-post duty

The Kolar Gold Fields (KGF) Superintendent of Police has suspended three police personnel, who were on duty at a check-post established in view of Assembly elections, from service on charges of extortion from the public.

KGF SP B.S. Loksehkumar on Thursday issued an order suspending Bangarpet police station ASI Ravindra P.R., constable C. Balaji Singh and M. Ravindra, head constable of KGF unit of District Armed Reserve police.

All the three have been deputed at the check-post at Dimba in KGF taluk. They have been accused of extorting money from motorists on the pretext of checking the vehicles. The trio allegedly collected money from motorists and farmers who were transporting vegetables on April 8.

The SP initiated an inquiry following the complaints. He suspended all the three in view of a report submitted by Bangarpet Circle Inspector of Police Dinesh Patil.
