President Kovind, Zambian Prez Edgar Chagwa Lungu lay foundation stone of Lusaka traffic Decongestion Project |
President Ram Nath Kovind and his Zambian counterpart Edgar Chagwa Lungu today laid foundation stone of Lusaka traffic Decongestion Project. The cost of 93 km road is 289 million dollar India is providing 250 million dollar. The project will be completed in three years.
This project is aimed at redesigning the major road network for Lusaka city with a view to reducing traffic jam, travel distance and saving fuel. The road rehabilitation and construction will change landscape of Zambia's capital city.
Speaking on this occasion President Kovind said Lusaka project would lead to further co operation between Zambia and India on socially relevant initiatives. He said that development partnership and economic cooperation are key pillars of India Zambia relations.
The President said he was happy to note that the two countries are collaborating on projects that will benefit citizens of Zambia. Mr. Kovind said that India appreciates the people - centric approach of the Zambian government in it's programme and policies. Today is the final day of President Kovind's visit to three African nation tour of Equatorial Guinea, Swaziland and Zambia. President will return home tonight.
