Man opens fire at live-in-partner following heated argument

LUDHIANA: A man opened fired at his live-in-partner, injuring her, in Chauhan Nagar of Dugri area on Thursday morning following a heated argument.
The woman has suffered minor injury and was taken to Civil Hospital while the accused managed to escape from the spot.

35-year-old Gurpreet Kaur told police that she was living with her live-in-partner Kuldeep Singh from past five years. Kuldeep is a drug addict, while she works at a garment store to run the family.


The woman alleged that the accused was forcing her to quit the job and also threatened her employers.


On Tuesday morning, she asked Kuldeep to quit drugs and start working following which a heated argument broke out between them. In a fit of rage, the man opened fire at her.


The investigating officer from police station Dugri, Baljinder Singh said that the accused is a drug addict and has earlier been booked for possessing illegal weapon.


He added that the weapon used by accused is a country made pistol. The police have launched a manhunt for the arrest of accused.
