Poll code violation: Eight crore worth goods, vehicles, cash seized in Mysuru district ahead

MYSURU: More than 8.18 cr cash and goods are seized by election officers at the check posts in eleven constituencies of Mysuru district.

Although, the District electoral ofhave stepped up vigil on movement of goods, liquor and money during the polls, the men at check posts have recovered cash and other valuables.

Deputy Commissioner KB Shiva Kumar said that the stepped-up checking vehicles around the clock. He said that they have seized 1 kilo gold, Rs 7.48 lakh of cash, Rs 2.33 lakh liquor, eight vehicles, 2 thousand posters and hotbox and water bottles.

He said that they have also booked 108 cases of poll code violation and 71 cases has been closed. He told there are 93 flying squads and have opened 49 check posts.

Asked about vehicles made to stop and wait for some time at check posts, he said that they depute additional forces to ensure that there is no unnecessary delay at the check posts.

Shivakumar said that the General and Expenditure observers will soon arrive to closely monitor the polling. Around 18 thousand men are involved in poll duty other than police. Seven paramilitary forces arrive: In wake of conducting elections peacefully around seven paramilitary forces have arrived in the district.

Shivakumar said that four troupes will camp in city and three other troupes have already taken out flag march in Hunsur, Chamundeshwari and Varuna constituencies.

He told that there is overwhelming response to on the spot enrollment to electoral list to be held till April.14. He said that they have received 37,378 applications for adding to electoral list and 1528 names removed from the list.

This included 5939 applications for enrollment in K R Constituency, 4,697 in Chamaraja, 6265 in Narashimaraja, 1837 in Periyapatna, 911 in K R nagar, 775 in Hunsur, 2013 in H D Kote, 1641 in Nanjangud, 8701 in Chamundeshwari, 1885 in Varuna , 2714 applications in T Narsipur.

Asked about posting derogatory post in facebook by Congressmen in Hunsur, Shivakumar said that they have lodged a compliant and registered a case in the regard.

He told that they have also booked a case against Congressmen on charges of distributing money in K R nagar and investigation is on.

It may be recalled that Congress MLA H P manjunath brother band his driver has posted derogatory post on facebook that would pose threat to harmony and instigate people of particular caste.
