Two Cuyahoga County men arrested April 9 in Mentor each were arraigned April 10 on a felony stolen-property charge, court records show.
Forty-year-old Jamar L. Copeland and 50-year-old Darold L. Thomas, both of whom live at 15705 Eveningstar Ave. in Maple Heights, are each charged with fourth-degree felony receiving stolen property after being stopped by Mentor police in a 2014 Toyota Camry that was reported as stolen, according to court records.
Copeland’s record states that he is also accused of stealing clothing and a tote valued at $256.96 from Walmart and faces a first-degree misdemeanor petty theft count as a result.
If convicted of the felony count, each defendant faces up to 18 months behind bars.
Copeland is being held on a $13,000/10 percent cash or surety bond and Thomas on a $10,000/10 percent cash or surety bond, their case files confirm.
Both are due back in court April 16, their records state.
