CHENNAI: Traffic on the GST Road, Sardar Patel Road and other roads in Chennai came to a standstill on Thursday due to protests by different parties and outfits against Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the city in the backdrop of the Centre’s failure to constitute a Cauvery management board.

Vehicles were moving at a snail’s pace in Saidapet, Madhya Kailash, Hilda Junction and Little Mount. Protesters were carrying black flags. They want to show the black flags to the Prime Minster who would be attending a programme in Adyar Cancer Institute.

Members of the Thamizhar Vazhvurimai Katchi, May 17 Movement, SDPI and Naam Thamizhar raised slogans against central government.

DMK workers readied a giant black balloon with “Modi Go Back” massage written on it.
