Natya Parishad to give awards for excellence

Nagpur: The foundation day and prize distribution ceremony of the Nagpur unit of Akhil Bharatiya Marathi Natya Parishad will be held at Shrimant Baburao Dhanwate Hall, Shankar Nagar, at 6pm on Saturday.

The prizes will be given by Rajan Jaiswal, a drama critic and author. Girish Gandhi, trustee of Vanarai, will preside. Praful Farakase, president of Nagpur unit of Natya Parishad, Pramod Bhusari, Kashiprasad Chourasia and Madhu Joshi will be the chief guests.


Veteran and young artistes who will be presented awards in recognition of their contribution to theatre are Meena Deshpande (Jeevangaurav), Prakash Patrikar (senior rangkarmi), Vaidehi Chavare (best rangkarmi), Abhay Nawathe (best author), Pravin Pardhi (rangseva), Nandu Andhare (natya samiksha gaurav), Parashram Khune (zadipatti senior rangkarmi) and Dnyaneshwari Kapgate (Zadipatti best rangkarmi).


Padmagandha Pratishthan will be specially honoured for taking the drama movement forward and nurturing youngsters. Artistes and technicians who did a fine job in Maharashtra Rajya Natya Spardha and those winning prizes in the final round of Maharashtra Kamgar Natya Mahotsav, Hindi Rajya Natya Mahotsav and Marathi Natya Mahotsav, will also be felicitated.


Those selected for the honour by Natya Parishad from Rajya Natya Spardha are Ramesh Lakhmapure (best director), Diplaxmi Bhat (best actress), Salim Sheikh (best actor), Ajay Karande (light arrangement), Swapnil Bohate (screenplay) and Virendra Latankar (music).
