Thippeswamy’s followers march to Ballari

The voice of dissent over Member of Parliament B. Sriramulu being given BJP ticket from Molakalmur got louder on Wednesday with supporters of incumbent MLA for Molakalmur S. Thippeswamy marching to Ballari to seek an answer from Mr. Sriramulu.

The situation led to tension for a while with hundreds of supporters of Mr. Thippeswamy entering the city and resorting to road block, resulting in traffic chaos for some time.

However, as a precautionary measure, the district police, led by Superintendent of Police Arun Rangarajan, and others stopped the buses and other vehicles on the outskirts of the city and allowed only the protesters to enter the city. A huge posse of policemen deployed as a precautionary measure considering the visit of Janata Dal (S) State president H.D. Kumaraswamy came in handy in keeping the situation under control.

The angry supporters of Mr. Thippeswamy were bent on getting an answer from Mr. Sriramulu and had planned to lay a siege to his residence in Ballari. However, on being informed about him not being in station, they gathered at the park near Moti Circle and held a protest meeting.

Later, Mr. Rangarajan convinced them to withdraw their protest and return.

Meanwhile, Mr. Thippeswamy told presspersons that he would take the next course action after consulting his supporters.
