KANPUR: Crime against women continued unabated in Unnao as in yet another incident, a badly burnt body of an unidentified woman was recovered from Junglee Kheda village near the Bhalla farms under the limits of Asoha Police station of Unnao district on Thursday.
The police on being alerted by villagers reached the spot along with forensic experts and after conducting preliminary investigations shifted the body to mortuary for postmortem examination. Police said efforts were underway to verify if there was any missing report pending with any of the nearby police stations.


The police sources said that way the womans badly burnt body with a rope tied around neck was recovered from an isolated spot, suggested that she might have been sexually assaulted before being murdered and set on fire.


The police launched an investigation and questioned the locals working in the nearby farms to ascertain clues regarding her identity. but in vain.


"We have recovered a badly burnt body of a woman today with a rope tied around her neck. Prima-facie, it appears that the woman was subjected to sexual assault before being set on fire. However, we are awaiting postmortem report to reach final conclusion," according to station house officer Asoha.


At present, the police is in the process of identifying the deceased with the help of villagers and neighbouring police stations," the SHO further added.
