Thief gives Kerala police the slip on way to hospital

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A 24-year-old history-sheeter, who was arrested by the Valiyathura police on Wednesday on charges of theft, gave the police the slip while being taken to the General Hospital for medical examination before presenting him in front of the magistrate. The accused is Anoop. According to police, Anoop who was escorted by two civil police officers and two home guards escaped at General Hospital around 5.30 pm. 

The police have launched a hunt for him and have informed the police control room and highway police.  
“He was taken out of the lock-up and the cops were making arrangements for producing him in court,” said a police officer. Though the police attempted a chase, they failed to locate him. The accused had attempted to escape from the cops several times earlier. He was booked under Section 401 (Punishment for belonging to a gang of thieves) of Indian Penal Code.
