Cops on duty donate blood to save child, woman

BHUBANESWAR: The City cops on Wednesday wasted no time to help a 14-year-old boy suffering from thalassemia and a woman who underwent a knee replacement operation at different hospitals in the Capital and donated O negative blood to the patients.

The members of NGO, Life Line Charitable Trust, received a call from the officials of Indian Red Cross Blood Bank that Soumya Ranjan Martha of Khurda district was suffering from thalassemia and was undergoing treatment at Capital Hospital here. The boy was in urgent need of O negative blood.

Similarly, the NGO received an urgent requirement of O negative blood for Pramila Sahoo, who underwent a knee replacement operation in All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) here.

The NGO’s secretary, Dhirendra Thakur, went to Lower PMG where havildar Rajeev Senapati was on duty and approached Bhubaneswar DCP Anup Kumar Sahoo urging him to allow the police personnel for visiting Capital Hospital so that he can donate blood to Martha.

Senapati donated blood to the boy in Capital Hospital. Constable Rohan Swain was taken to AIIMS and donated blood to Sahoo.
