PANAJI: The case of the mysterious death of British teenager
Scarlett Keeling that took place on
Anjuna beach in February 2008, is likely to come up for its final hearing next week in the
high court of Bombay at Goa. The case was listed on the board on Thursday, but did not come up for hearing.
The
Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on February 3 challenged the
Goa children’s court order acquitting two accused in the Scarlett case. On November 17, 2017, the high court passed an order to hear the CBI’s appeal challenging the Goa children court’s order. Speaking to TOI, CBI's senior counsel Ejaz Khan said the case may come up for hearing on April 19.
On September 23, 2017, the children’s court acquitted
Samson D’Souza and Placido Carvalho, who were charged with culpable homicide not amounting to murder.
