Indian Chef-de-Mission denies issuing upgraded accreditation to shooter's father
India's Chef-de-mission for the Commonwealth Games, Vikram Sisodia today denied issuing accreditation to the father of a shooter, who tried to enter the athletes lounge at the Belmont Shooting Center in Brisbane city.
"It has been reported in one of the newspaper that one of the shooters father Mr Vinay Varman has been issued upgrade pass or accreditation from the Chef De Mission's office...no accreditation upgrade Pass has been issued from the CDM office to any shooter's father or to any personal coach from the shooting contingent," Sisodia said in a brief statement.
Double trap shooter Varsha Varman's father Vinay Varman had tried to enter the athletes' lounge at the range but was stopped by the officials of the National Rifles Association of India.
Varsha had finished fourth in the women's double trap event yesterday. (PTI)

Double Olympic-medallist Sushil Kumar (74kg) and Rahul Aware claimed contrasting gold medals even as defending champion Babita phogat (53kg) settled for a silver on the opening day of the 21st Commonwealth Games' wrestling competition here today.
Sushil took a minute and 20 seconds to defeat Johannes Botha of South Africa on technical superiority to claim his third successive gold medal at the Games.
Rahul Aware, on the other hand, prevailed 15-7 over Canada's Steven Takahashi in an exciting contest during which the Indian was troubled by a groin niggle but chose to carry on with more than a minute left on the clock. Aware's triumph opened India's gold medal account in the three-day wrestling competition at the Games.
"I have been waiting for this medal for the last 10 years. I can't describe how it feels to claim it. I missed out on 2010, even in 2014, the team was sent without trials. So, I am very happy that I could finally fulfil this dream," said the 26-year-old Aware, who is also the reigning Commonwealth championships gold-medallist.

Rahul Aware fought through pain to claim the biggest triumph of his wrestling career, a gold medal at the Commonwealth Games on debut, even as defending champion Babita phogat (53kg) settled for a silver here today.

Settling for a bronze was 26-year-old Kiran (76kg), who defeated Mauritian Katouskia Pariadhaven by fall in the repechage for her first major medal at the international level.

Aware defeated Canada's Steven Takahashi in an exciting contest to claim the top hours. This was the first CWG medal of his career.
Babita, who claimed a silver in the 2010 edition before a gold in Glasgow, failed to break through her rival's defences, going down 2-5 in the contest. Her medal opened India's account in the wrestling competition of the Games.
