Wife accuses Army man of assault

A case has been registered against an Army officer for allegedly assaulting his wife, the police said on Wednesday.

The woman said in her complaint that she was assaulted by the Lieutenant-Colonel on the way back from a party on April 4, they said. A case was registered at Delhi Cantonment station on April 8, the police said, adding that no arrest has been made so far.

“Immediately after our wedding [in 2004] I discovered his violent nature against certain issues. I have been subjected to continuous verbal, mental and physical assault,” the complaint states. The couple has two daughters, aged 11 and eight years. The woman has alleged that the officer “doubted her character” and asked for a divorce. She has also accused her in-laws of not helping her despite being aware of the incident.
