‘Prime Minister broke his promises on the issue’

A day ahead of the unprecedented day-long fast by Prime Minister Narendra Modi against the washout of the second half of the budget session of Parliament, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu accused the BJP-led NDA government of dodging the issue of no-confidence motion by citing the protests by AIADMK and other parties.

Mr. Naidu wondered why Mr. Modi was undertaking the fast on Thursday.

Mr. Modi cannot keep on deceiving people of the State, he said while making it clear that he had no personal differences with him (Mr. Modi). Addressing the inaugural function of the Bhuseva project here on Wednesday, Mr. Naidu said Mr. Modi broke his promises and instead of giving Special Category Status (SCS) and implementing the assurances given in the Rajya Sabha, the BJP was targeting TDP.

However, the CM asserted that he would not give up the fight for SCS and other rights and cautioned the BJP against taking the people for granted.

Corruption charges

Mr. Naidu expressed regret that the BJP leaders were levelling corruption charges against him and said it was nothing but politics of vendetta.

He reiterated that he exited the NDA on being fully convinced that the BJP was oblivious to its responsibility of implementing what has been promised on the floor of Parliament.
