Students allege discrepancy in results

Stage protest at Kakatiya University

Scores of students staged a protest demonstration on the Kakatiya University campus alleging bungling in evaluation of answer sheets.

They burnt an effigy and raised slogans against the university authorities.

The students alleged several discrepancies in the degree examination results with 1,385 students from various colleges under the University in erstwhile Warangal, Khammam and Adilabad districts getting detained.

Convenor of ABVP Punem Venu said that the first semester students of Pingili Girls College have passed in all the subjects but the entire class has failed in Chemistry. The results were declared on April 9 and the students have been worried ever since. A complaint from the students to the examination branch of the university has not yielded any response from the university officials.

“Such situation has occurred before. Several students were marked absent or failed due to some technical issue. However, it is evident from the results declared recently that the university has not put in any efforts to rectify the problem. The students are upset with the negligent attitude of the university officials,” Venu said, threatening to intensify their stir.

Meanwhile University vice-chancellor Prof R. Sayanna has asked the students to be patient and give the university some time to address the problem.
