HC seeks presence of DSSSB secy with records on special educators in MCD schools

Press Trust of India  |  New Delhi

The today asked a of the Subordinate Services Selection Board (DSSSB) to appear before it along with the records relating to special educators in municipal schools here.

The absence of any from the DSSSB in the court in a matter prompted the court to call for the presence of the board's

"of the DSSSB to remain present in court with records relating to recruitment of special educators," a bench of Acting and Justice C said.

During the hearing, neither any nor of the board were present in the court which listed the matter for further hearing on April 19.

The bench had earlier sought response of the AAP government, the DSSSB and the South Municipal Corporation over the alleged delay in filling up 1,540 posts of special educators in municipal schools here.

The court was hearing an application moved by seeking direction to immediately issue dates for examination for filling up of the posts in terms of the advertisements issued in August last year.

It said that in pursuance to the high court's September 2009 order, the unified MCD had created as many as 1,741 posts of special educators.

"Out of these 1,741 posts of special educators, 1,540 posts are still lying vacant, that means 89 per cent posts of special educators in MCD-run schools have not been filled up so far.

The plea had alleged that the authorities had not even conducted the examinations for these posts and that the board was "just sitting over the matter ignoring the seriousness of the same."

The application was moved in a petition by and her husband Shyam Nandan, who sell vegetables in Katwaria Sarai in south

has moved the court saying her two sons with special needs had studied at government and municipality-run schools for years, but learnt nothing and were rather made a source of entertainment.

They said their disabled sons had stopped going to the school due to lack of special educators.
