CPI(M) decries privatisation plans

The State government is trying to mislead the people by issuing statements that VIMS would not be privatised, after releasing a G.O. on privatisation of VIMS, CPI(M) Greater Visakha City Committee has alleged.

Reacting to the statement issued by the VIMS Director, CPI(M) city secretary B. Ganga Rao wondered: if the claims of providing ‘better medical services’ under PPP were true, can the officials announce that all the new services would be offered free? He alleged that the State government had not released funds for the second and third phases of the development of VIMS with the objective of privatising it. The PPP-mode was meant to hand over VIMS to corporate entities. He demanded cancellation of G.O. no. 33.
