MU vows to declare law results in 15 days

So far, the varsity has corrected only 53,383 of the 76,450 answer sheets

The Students Law Council said on Tuesday that the Mumbai University had assured them at a special meeting that the pending law exam results will be declared within 15 days.

The varsity also said that no ‘Allowed To Keep Terms’ (ATKT) or repeat exams would be conducted till the results are declared.

The special meeting was held between students’ representatives and senior MU officials, including Vice Chancellor Dr. Devanand Shinde. The law exams were held in December last year and the main exams are likely to be held on schedule. The ATKT exams will be held based on the declaration of results. So far, MU has corrected only 53,383 of the 76,450 answer sheets.

In a written complaint, the students’ representatives said, “About 30% of the students pass during re-evaluations. However, as results are not declared on time, they are forced to appear for the ATKT exams.”

The varsity said that the lack of regular law faculty in its 52 law colleges was a major cause for the delay in results. The varsity turned down the students demand to scrap the online assessment system and reintroduce manual paper corrections to avoid delays.

The students have sent their complaint to the Chief Minister and sought his intervention. A copy has been marked to the Chief Justice of the Bombay High Court.
