
Police respond to New Milford shooting

NEW MILFORD - Police are investigating an apparent shooting near the intersection of Route 55 and Route 7 this morning.
At the crime scene there are four vehicles, all with New York state license plates. One of the vehicles, a black pickup truck, has smashed driver’s side window.
Police have transported some possible witnesses to the Gaylordsville firehouse where they are being interviewed.
Police have blocked off the intersection and asked people to avoid the area.
Route 55 is closed, blocked by two firetrucks. Detour signs have been placed directing traffic away from the area.
State Police have also been brought in to assist New Milford police, said Trooper Kelly Grant.
According to an official with the Litchfield County Dispatch, medics were called in this morning to assist two gun shot victims near the intersection.
The condition of the victims and how the shooting happened wasn’t immediately available.
Dispatch reports say police are looking for a blue mini-van that may have a connection to the incident.
Police from New York state are also assisting New Milford with the case.
New York State Police said they are not yet releasing any information on this “critical incident.”
