Rain to continue, fresh spell forecast from April 14

While it rained in Dehradun and in some other parts of the state since Wednesday morning more is in store as per the weather officials. The wet spell would continue for some more days as a fresh western disturbance is approaching  the Western Himalayan region which would trigger rain  from April 14. Bikram Singh, director of meteorological department, said that rain/thunderstorm is likely to lash isolated places in the state, particularly the hills, since April 14 for the next few days.

Meanwhile, normal life was adversely affected as it rained  in the city on Wednesday. However, the people got a pleasant climate as  the maximum temperature  plunged  four notches below  the normal.  Around 14 mm rainfall was reported from Dehradun on  the day as the maximum temperature settled at 27.7 degree Celsius  and the minimum at 16.6 degree Celsius on the day. The highest maximum temperature of the state 36.2°C was recorded at Jaspur while the lowest minimum temperature 7.0°C was recorded  in Nainital.

According to a Met official, very light to moderate rainfall/thunderstorm occurred at most places in Uttarakhand on Wednesday. Hail lashed isolated places in Tehri, Pithoragarh and Nainital districts. While  30 mm rainfall was reported each in Chamoli and Tehri, 20 mm each in Haldwani, Kapkot and Karnaprayag and 10 mm each in Roorkee, Dwarhat, Pithoragarh, Jakholi, Ranikhet, Ukhimath, Almora, Chaukhuti and Gangolihat. However, the power supply snapped at various places in the state including Dehradun, following the rain.

The weather forecast for Dehradun on Thursday is mainly clear to partly cloudy sky. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 31 degree Celsius and 17 degree Celsius respectively in Dehradun on the day. 

As per the chart sent by the weather department, in Pantnagar, the maximum and minimum temperatures were recorded at 29.0 degree Celsius and 17.8 degree Celsius, respectively. In Mukteshwar, the maximum and minimum temperatures were recorded at 17.6 degree Celsius and 7.7 degree Celsius.

 In New Tehri, the maximum and minimum temperatures recorded were 15.4 degree Celsius and 9.8 degree Celsius respectively.
