England's Zharnel Hughes was dramatically denied a breakthrough gold medal as he was disqualified after crossing the line first in the 200m at the Commonwealth Games.

The 22-year-old dipped just ahead of Trinidad and Tobago's Jareem Richards as they duelled down the straight.

But he was judged to have impeded Richards who was promoted to gold. Northern Ireland's Leon Reid was third.

Earlier England's Dina Asher-Smith won bronze in a top-quality women's 200m.
