Dempo HSS of Arts Science and Commerce, Cujira celebrated its Founder’s Day on the 102nd birth anniversary of Vasantrao Dempo. Chief guest trustee of Dempo Charities trust, Yatish Dempo accompanied by Akshaya Dempo; MLA of Santa Cruz, Antonio Fernandes; sarpanch of Santa Cruz Panchayat, Mariano Araujo, parish priest of Santa Cruz, Alexandre Pereira and principal, Rupa Khope were present.
The second edition of the school bulletin ‘Vasant Times’ edited by Amelia Barreto was released. Senior teacher, Sumedha Kamat Desai was honoured for receiving the National award from Government of India from Humanity and Resource Development and Education. Scholarships were awarded to students pursing higher studies in different streams.
Mathematics teacher, Usha Bhobe; clerk Lina Pai and administrative staff Sadanand Babrekar were felicitated on their retirement.
Dempo highlighted the founder’s vision of giving the nation what we have received. Antonio stressed on value of education while Pereira appreciated the kind gesture of the Dempo Trust towards society and developing love for learning. Araujo stressed on the importance of giving rather than receiving.
