Delaware State Police are investigating the armed robbery of a motel April 7 around 10:30 p.m. and are asking for public assistance in locating the robber.

Troopers were dispatched to the Red Mill Inn in the 16000 block of Coastal Highway in Lewes for a reported robbery Saturday evening, according to a news release. 

When troopers arrived, they made contact with an employee who said he was in the rear storage area behind the front office when confronted by the robber.

The robber displayed a handgun, and a physical struggle ensued where the victim was struck with a blunt object, police said. The robber then held the victim at gunpoint and forced him to remove money from the cash register, according to police. 

The victim complied with the demands and turned over an undisclosed amount of money prior to the robber fleeing the scene, police said. 

The victim sustained minor injuries and refused medical treatment at the time, according to the release.

The robber is described as a black male between 5 feet 9 inches tall and 5 feet 10 inches tall and around 160-180 pounds. He wearing all black clothing.
