HE Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh met Iraqi Vice-President HE Dr. Ayad Allawi affirming his keenness to build on the deep-rooted historical relations between Iraq and Jordan and to develop economic and investment cooperation in a mechanism that serves both countries.
Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh, accompanied by HE Dr. Jawad Anani and twenty directors of Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Organization (TAG-Org), highlighted the importance of economic and social integration between the two countries.
He also underlined the importance of bilateral cooperation in the field of transport and the need for strengthening bilateral institutional relations through a coordination council with the private sector which includes chambers of commerce and industry as well as businessmen.
For his part, Dr. Allawi expressed his appreciation for His Majesty King Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein, King of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, and the government and people of Jordan and highly commended the support of the Kingdom for the unity, security and stability of Iraq.
Allawi underlined the deep relations between the two states and the readiness of Iraq to implement a number of major projects in cooperation with Jordan, particularly the Iraq Oil Pipeline project to Aqaba, the jointly owned gas exploration company in addition to the Desert Route Project between Iraq with Jordan through Al Karameh border crossing.
Meanwhile, Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh met Speaker of Parliament Dr. Salim Al- Jabouri and underscored the importance of establishing an Iraqi-Jordanian coordination council to activate the upcoming stage plan of Iraqi- Jordanian initiatives.
Moreover, Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh invited Al-Jabouri for a special meeting to be held at Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Knowledge Forum to highlight the upcoming stage plan in Iraq with a special focus on economic aspects.
