Sodhi set for maiden IPL stint with Rajasthan Royals

2018-04-11 12:17

Wellington - New Zealand spinner Ish Sodhi has been signed for this season's Indian Premier League (IPL) by the Rajasthan Royals as replacement player.

Sodhi has been called up to the Royals' squad to replace the injured wrist spinner Zahir Khan from Afghanistan.

It will be Sodhi's first stint in the IPL but he has excelled in India before, helping the Kiwis to the semi-finals where they lost to tournament runner-up England.

The leg-spinner has played in 92 T20 matches around the world and taken 102 wickets at an economy of 7.66 runs per over.

Sodhi's call-up is one of a number of overseas players that have been named as replacements recently.

England duo Liam Plunkett and David Willey recently joined the Delhi Daredevils and Chennai Super Kings respectively.
