"Do something about it. The monitoring committee was set up by the Supreme Court," the bench comprising Justices and said.

"You please call your commissioner," the bench orally told Wasim A Qadri, who was appearing in the matter.

Later, A N S appeared before the court and said he had talked to the commissioner on the issue and he has assured that all security arrangements would be made.

He said protection was provided to the committee and if intimation was given to the in advance, all proper arrangements would be put in place.

"The monitoring committee has given its report yesterday only and I had talked to the commissioner," told the bench while referring to the issue raised by the panel about protection when it was scheduled to visit in south for carrying out their work.

The bench, which posted the matter for hearing on April 16, had earlier ordered restoration of its 2006 monitoring committee to identify and seal such offending structures.

The monitoring committee, comprising K J Rao, former to the Election Commissioner, Bhure Lal, of Environment Pollution (and Control) Authority, and (Retd) Som Jhingan, was set up on March 24, 2006, by the court.

The top court is hearing arguments on the validity of the Laws (Special Provisions) Act, 2006 and subsequent legislations which protect unauthorised construction from being sealed.
