SCR demonstrates new safety system

TCAS trial runs conducted between Lingampalli and Vikarabad stations

South Central Railway (SCR) has conducted a trial run of ‘Train Collision Avoidance System’ (TCAS) with various demonstrations of loop line speed control test, trip mode visit, delay clearance, starter signal override and signal passing at danger prevention testing between Lingampalli and Vikarabad stations on the weekend.

Railway Board’s Member-Traction Ghan Shyam Singh, on an inspection visit here, witnessed the demonstration and appreciated the efforts of SCR in achieving a record 608 kilometres of electrification, the highest among the different Zones of Indian Railways. Electric traction is going to change the train operations and the future of Indian Railways, even as it helps in lowering the fuel bill. The synergy extended by the Zone in electric traction has become a challenge for others, he said.

General Manager Vinod Kumar Yadav said the SCR has ambitious plans for the current financial year in infrastructure development and also expressed satisfaction over electric traction work. The duo inaugurated and inspected the ‘Other End Maintenance’ (OEM) siding at the Lingampalli Station Yard.

The OEM facility would help in maintenance of the long distance express trains which have been extended up to Lingampalli. Later, he inspected the Route Relay working at Shankarpalli station. Additional GM John Thomas and other senior officials were present during the inspections, a press release said.
