Land, sea, and air come together at this expo

CHENNAI : The Defexpo 2018 is all set to begin on today at Thiruporur. People can experience the glory of five Indian Navy warships which will dock at Chennai harbor on the sidelines of Defexpo India.
A Ministry of Defence official informed that visitors have to assemble at Island Grounds on April 13 and 15.“They will be taken in batches of 50 each,” he said. The five vessels include INS Sahyadri, a Shivalik-class stealth multi-role frigate built for the Indian Navy, INS Kamorta, the first of four anti-submarine Kamorta-class stealth corvettes, INS Airawat, the third Shardul-class amphibious warfare vessel, INS Sumedha, the third Saryu class patrol vessel of the Indian Navy, and INS Shakti, a Deepak-class fleet tanker.

Similarly, the Officers Training Academy, which trains men and women army officers, will be open for public on April 13-14. The major attraction will be on April 14 at Arulmigu Nithyakalyana Perumal Temple Thiruvidanthai,Thiruvidanthal, Thiruporur Taluk, Kanchipuram. There will be live displays at sea,  land and air. The focus at the expo would be Hindustan Aeronautics Limited’s flying platforms like the domestically designed and manufactured fourth-generation Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) - Tejas; Advanced Light Helicopter - Dhruv, and Dornier civilian aircraft.

Land systems too will get a large share of the spotlight with 155mm Advanced Towed Artillery Gun (ATAG) all-set to be unveiled at the expo. Designed by Defence Research and Development Organisation in partnership with Kalyani Group, Tata Power and OFBs, it is the first time India will have its own ATAG. Dhanush — a 155mm artillery gun — on display. Other highlights for the Army include India’s tank-manufacturing abilities courtesy MBT Arjun, T90 and T-72 and Bridge Laying Tanks (BLTs).

Entry to the Defexpo 2018 on April 14 will be without any charges for general visitors. It is mandatory for visitors to carry original government-issued valid photo ID card such as passport, Aadhar card or any government ID

Rules and timings
April 14 from 9 am to 5 pm
●    Entry gates will open one hour before the show timings.
●    Original government issued photo ID card, and a copy, is mandatory.
●    All Visitors will be required to undergo security check. Each visitor will get 30 minutes. Children are also allowed.
●    Consequent to waiver of entry charges the account, from which the payment of `100/- has been made, will be suitably credited.
●    Food items will not be allowed.
●    Firearms, weapons, knives (including pocket knives and multi tools), replica or toy weapons, laser pointers, packets of any kind/liquids will not be permitted.
