A bench of justice Vikram Nath and justice Abdul Moin had taken a suo-motu cognizance on a TOI report published on March 28 highlighting how the common man had to face serious difficulties due to traffic jams because of agitations in the city. The court had then asked the CS, DGP and the home secretary to explain the situation and that what steps the authorities were taking to deal with the situation.

On Wednesday, additional advocate general V K Sahi, chief standing counsel Ramesh Pandey and additional chief standing counsel Siddhartha Dhawan placed before the bench two government orders issued by the CS and the home secretary on April 9 . The two GOs suggested ways to meet the situation which may arise due to agitation in the city. Expressing displeasure on the suggestions, the court fixed April 18 as the next date of hearing directing the top authorities to give better suggestions.
