Gardiner Angus Ranch’s 39th annual spring production sale saw a total of 1,123 head sold to 245 buyers from 32 states, Canada and Mexico. A total of 809 lots sold for a total of $6,004,100, with an average of $7,242.
The 269 head of 20-month-old registered Angus bulls averaged $8,252 per head, and the 131 head of 16-18 – month old registered Angus bulls averaged $5,300. The total of 400 bulls averaged $7,285. More information on the bull sale can be found here.
Lot 1, GAR Phoenix, topped the sale with one-half interest and no possession sold to Winter Family Ranch, Dodge City, Kan., for $130,000. GAR Phoenix was sired by GAR Sure fire, one of the breed’s most proven current sires with more than 120 carcass records, more than 1,000 ultrasound records and more than 100 daughters in production. The Winter Family Ranch will partner with Select Sires and Gardiner Angus Ranch on GAR Phoenix.
The sale featured 385 total registered female lots that sold for $2,345,500 to average $6,092 per lot.
Additionally, 22 bred commercial cows sold for an average of $3,100, while 193 bred commercial heifers sold for $2,934 each. One load lot (51 head) of commercial heifers sold for $110,050, to average $2,158.
A total of 266 commercial females sold for $744,600, to average $2,799.
The sale was held Saturday, April 7, 2018, at the Henry & Nan Gardiner Marketing Center located on the ranch near Ashland, Kansas. The auctioneers were Col. James Birdwell and Col. Rick Machado.
