MANGALURU: Members of the Panaara aka Nalike community, who traditionally perform Bhoota kola, have filed a caste abuse complaint against RSS leader Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat for his recent remark against them.

The complaint was filed by Nalike Samaja Seva Sangha with the Belthangady police on Tuesday. The complainants said Bhat has questioned the very existence of ‘Bhootaradhane’ of Tulunadu during a protest in Kairangala. Bhat remarked that those performing Bhoota kola and related traditions have no sense.

Police said that they have taken a non-cognizable complaint as of now, and are taking legal advise on whether to file a nFIR or not.

It may be recalled that the Dakshina Kannada District Congress Committee (DCC) had on Saturday filed a complaint with the Election Commission against Kalladka, for allegedly making a communally-provocative speech at Kairangala in Mangaluru constituency on April 4.
