Kasaragod on Wednesday signaled this intent. With Jeji Arun Chakravarthy, Inspector-General of Police (Western Range) taking the lead, senior police officers from Mangaluru City Police, Dakshina Kannada district police,
Kasaragod District police and allied police and intelligence units discussed common issues and concerns.
T R Suresh, city police chief told TOI that the meeting was to get the nitty-gritties of election time bandobast right and not leave any loopholes for any sort of election related malpractices. “We have already activated our border check posts and have sought same cooperation from our counterparts in Kasaragod,” Suresh said, adding B R Ravikanthegowda, SP
DK district flagged the same with his Kasaragod counterpart given that DK shares border with Kasaragod.
There are several smaller roads apart from major district roads, state and national highway that leads to Kasaragod. “We want to ensure that even these roads are under police net so that chances of criminals’ crossing over to and from the districts is stopped,” he said. In addition, police units shared notes on common criminals, absconders operating in their respective jurisdictions so that effective check can be kept on them right throughout the elections, he said.
To perk up security in DK district and city police limits, two companies of central armed police force (CAPF) –

Armed Border Force and one company of Central Reserve Police Force has been deployed for election bandobast duties in the district. Out of this, 300 men and officers have been deployed for duty in city police commissionerate limits. Additional CAPF units will be deployed across district in days ahead, Suresh said.
