Class X student held on charge of committing 11 thefts

A team of Central Crime Station (CCS) on Tuesday took into custody a 10th class student for his alleged involvement in 11 house break-ins reported from the IV-Town police station limits and arrested three more persons on charge of helping out the minor in disposing of the stolen valuables.

The crime police have recovered 442 grams of gold, laptops, cellphones and electronic gadgets from the boy.

According to Assistant Commissioner of Police (CCS) Govinda Rao, the juvenile, who has recently written the SSC exams, was in the habit of committing offences for easy money to afford to a lavish lifestyle.

The 16-year-old juvenile, who allegedly committed 11 house break-ins, was caught while disposing of the stolen goods, along with his three aides.

Modus operandi

β€œThe juvenile would leave home on the pretext of playing in the ground and conduct recce on the locked houses. He would gain entry into the houses through the kitchen and make good with the valuables. He has been conducting such offences since October last year,” the ACP told the media here while explaining the modus operandi.

The juvenile would buy branded garments, dine at posh restaurants and purchase latest electronic gadgets.

He lost his father a few years ago and his mother is an employee at a private firm while his brother studies in a college and works part-time, said Mr. Govinda Rao. A case has been registered.
