Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton have come to verbal blows this week after the Dutchman collided with his rival during the Bahrain Grand Prix.
Hamilton hit out at Verstappen, calling him a “d***head”, before the Red Bull driver responded.
Verstappen is understood to frustrate other drivers on the circuit with his aggressive style.
But former head of the CRG karting Tinini says the 20-year-old is only showing the same attitude that Hamilton had at his age.
"Verstappen is very similar to the Hamilton I saw when he was young,” Tinini told Newsweek.
“Not many drivers have the control he has.

"It is normal for drivers to have problems with each other.
“Sometimes drivers do not accept the Verstappen’s actions.
“He is indeed aggressive on the job but always in control. He also had problems with the other boys in karting.”
Verstappen and Hamilton will be eyeing victory in the next F1 race of the season, in Shanghai this weekend.
Hamilton has won the Chinese Grand Prix on five previous occasions, while Verstappen’s best finish on the Shanghai International Circuit was third in last season’s outing.
