Prolonged rain showers have led to flood alerts being implemented in North Wales.

Natural Resources Wales (NRW) is warning that there is a chance of flooding in eastern parts of the region as heavy downpours continue to be felt.

The agency is warning that river levels are currently above their normal levels.

Warnings are in place along the river Alyn between Llandegla in Denbighshire through to Rossett in Wrexham .

A warning is also in place for parts of Rossett - with residents in Burton Road, Llay Road, Station Road and the Copse being warned that there could be flooding, as well as those living at Rossett Mill, Marford Mill and the Mill House.

The Met Office is forecasting showers to continue through to the end of the week.

A spokesman said: “[Today it will be] generally cloudy and cool across Wales with mist, hill fog and outbreaks of showery rain throughout much of the day.

“Some brighter spells are likely across north and west Wales, where it will feel warmer.

“Outbreaks of showery rain will continue through the evening, perhaps turning more widespread for a time, before easing again later in the night.

“A damp start for some on Thursday with further showery outbreaks of rain during the day, especially in the east.

“Brighter and warmer in some western parts.”

By next week, temperatures could rise above 20 degrees Celsius in some parts of the country.
