Wellington’s Ryleigh Buck has been named to the American Athletic Conference honor roll after helping the Shockers to three wins at the Bearkat Classic this past weekend. This morning, she sat down to speak to us about her time since graduating from Wellington High School.
“My experience here (at Wichita State) has been great. The coaches all do a great job giving it a family-like atmosphere, which was what I was looking for in a college program. We also have a great group of girls here that all get along well and make it a lot of fun.”
After high school, she said , “I committed to Central Florida when I was a sophomore and I just fell in love with the atmosphere there. I loved the coaches and the girls down there. Being away from home I felt like they were my family especially when I was going through all my issues with getting cleared and then having to transfer. Now that I am at WSU, though, I know this is where I am suppose to be and I wouldn't change a thing.”
In regards to coming from Wellington, she said, “I loved growing up in a small town. I felt like so many people supported me throughout high school, and still to this day, keep up with how softball is going. I just miss the close knit community and being around so many people that supported me.”
In regards to the future, she said, “Once I graduate from WSU I am planning on going into physical therapy.”
