Nimadi folk tale ‘Murge Ka Byah’ performed at Shaheed Bhavan

One of the well known Nimadi folk tales ‘Murge Ka Byah’ was brilliantly performed at Shaheed Bhavan Auditorium on Tuesday.

The three-day theatre festival Tantya Mama Children’s Theatre Festival is all about folk tales and wondrous presentation. The children of the city gave splendid performance on the second day of the fest before the theatre buffs of the city.

Here on Tuesday the children performed a folk tale ‘Murge ka Byah’. Directed by a renowned playwright of the city KG Trivedi the play was based on the Nimadi folk tale.

Blended with the hilarious and comic situations, the tale was about a cock who wanted to marry the princess of the kingdom. One night, the cock had a dream that in previous birth he was a prince, a handsome looking prince who married the princess. He tells about his dream to his mother, but her mother tells him the difference between animals, birds and human. He still believed in his dream and tells his mother that whatever may happen, he will definitely marry the princess.

He then sets on to his journey. In middle of his journey he meets cheetah and a cat who urged the cock to take him along. He agrees and the three sets off to the palace through crossing a river. As soon as they reached the palace, the cock sees the princess and decides to marry her as soon as possible. He tells about his wish to the princes, in turn the princess tells the king about it.

The king on the other hand tries to kill the cock adopting many ways, but it became hard for the king as cock’s friends’ cat and cheetah always were there by his side to save him. Later, it was disclosed by the palace priest that the princess is bound to marry a bird and so at the end the cock and the princess get married. What happened next was enthralling. The cock turns into a handsome prince and both lived happily ever after.

It was a splendid performance by the children. The story narration by the little artists left the audience mesmerized at the hall as they watched the performance with rapt attention.
