NMMC notices to 14 illegal schools

Navi Mumbai: The Education Department of Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) has declared a list of 14 schools that have not been approved by the State government.

The list has been released ahead of the 2018-19 academic year, so that parents are well warned.

Said Sandeep Sangave, Education Officer at NMMC, β€œThe list has schools that are unauthorised. We have put up an advertisement of the list, and parents should remove their children from these schools. We have also issued notices to the 14 schools to stop taking admission and shift the existing students to other schools or to civic schools.”

If the schools do not act even after the notice, the NMMC will take action as per the Right to Education Act, he said.

At least 13 of the 14 schools on the list are English-medium institutes, while one of them, St Xavier's School in Sector 3, Nerul, is a Marathi-medium school.

Among the other schools are Al Momin School in Belapur, Right Way English School in Nerul, Red Camel International School, Nerul, Iqra International School, Nerul, Navi Mumbai Christian English School, Turbhe, Aster International School, Koparkhairne, Vishwabharati School, Koparkhairne, Saraswati Vidyaniketan School, Ghansoli.
